I wanted to take the opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season.
There were enough tourists in Diu that there were several things happening for Xmas. I went to a restaurant for an Xmas eve dinner. It was nice - lots of fish. Last night a few people organized a BBQ on the roof of the hotel with chicken and slightly more traditional foods. Unfortunately I was not feeling all that well so I wasn't really able to fully enjoy it.
Mostly I have been lying about on the beach, reading and chatting to other travellers. Not a bad Xmas at all!!!
I am leaving Diu very early tomorrow. I am off to a Vipassana meditation retreat in Rajkot (not too far from here). I am excited about it but am also a little nervous: 10 days of very little eating, not reading, writing, and ... gasp ... NO talking!! It starts tomorrow afternoon and it runs until the 7th. If you are interested to know more, the web site for the centre I am going to is http://www.kota.dhamma.org.
After that I have a train ticket to Aurangabad from where I will visit the caves at Ajanta and Elhora.
I hope you all have a wonderful New Year. Have a drink for me and give each other lots of hugs and kisses!!!

Hello again,
Right now I am in Diu. It is a very small island off the coast of the far western province of Gujarat. It was a colony of Portugal. I choose it because it sounded peaceful with some but not too many tourists. That is mostly true although over Xmas it is a lot more crowded and expensive than usual.
I plan to stay about a week before heading further south. Unless I can think of anything better I am going to head directly to Ajanta and Ellora caves before continuing further south.
My travelling companion Linda for Australia has sadly left me and has continued her own journey south before going home for the New Year. I am missing the company (not to mention the ability to split a hotel bill :-)) already.
I wish everyone a truly wonderful Xmas!!

As promised I am posting a few photos.
Well, I am now in Udaipur (still in Rajasthan). Have been here a few days just resting and staring at the sky. It will be time to start moving again tomorrow altho sad to say I am losing my travel companion as she is headding off to the the south and there is some wandering left for me here still.
So far, other than my complete inability not to tread in every second pile of cow dung, things are going very well. It has been very easy and hastle free for the most part.
In spite of the fact that I plan to leave here tomorrow I have nothing than even partly resembles a "plan". Oh well :-)
Hello again,
Still no photos as I am just not that organized .. yet. I will be soon though I promise.
I am starting to get a plan together for at least the next little while ... right now I am in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. I plan to stay tonight and tomorrow before heading to Jodhpur then to a few more places also in Rajasthan. The rough idea is to spend the next month meandering south to Goa. It seemed like it was going to be too busy and expensive in Goa in December and I am hoping that with some help I can find a place to stay longer term (like a month). It might be nice to unpack for a few weeks at least ... I honestly can't remember when the last time I did that was.
Right now I am travelling with a really great Australian woman I met. It is nice not to be travelling alone for a bit. I think we may travel through Rajasthan together but then she needs to get south quickly as she has less time here than I do.
More updates soon,
K
Hello All,
Greetings from India!!
I am writing right now from Agra and can't wait to be able to post the
photos I took today of the Taj Mahal.. yup - the Taj Mahal!!!
Cool eh??!!!. It was quite simply ... Amazing!!! Sadly,
however I shall have to wait to bore you with photos until I figure out
the internet and get myself a bit more organized. I have taken about 600 hundred pictures so far
and I have only been here about a week!! I am looking forward to being
able to share some of them with you soon.
I came here yesterday from Delhi where I attended my friend Amit's
wedding. I have no idea how to explain how beautiful and
interesting it was and how hospitable his entire family were!! I
have never experienced such an overwhelming and warm welcome
before. Once again I can't wait to post some of the photos.
It was an exceptionally lavish and traditional wedding - there was an
elephant and everything. His sisters took me under their wings
and even had me wearing a sari and dancing.
I hope everyone is well. Please email me lots and let me know how you are ...
Kim
Hello,
Welcome to my blog.
I intend to use this site to keep you all up to date on my travels.
I have a shiny new camera so I will be taking lots of pictures.
Right now I am in Ontario visiting my family until the big day - November 27th when I catch my flight to Mumbai/Bombay. yyyaaayyyy!!!
I am pretty excited to be attending a friend's wedding in Delhi. The only catch is that it is the day after I arrive and I will need to get there from Mumbai/Bombay and get over the jet-lag pretty quickly.
Currently I am basking in my self-unemployed status. It is weird not having anything to do ... So far I am actually kind of enjoying it - watching a bit of TV and reading lots of books. Seems like I may just be cut out for the life of leisure ...
Right now the plan is: no plan. Seems to be working so far ...
More soon.
Take Care
